Mom vs Chaos is a blog about my adventures trying to conquer chaos one day at a time. I’m a mother of four (three under four), an aspiring minimalist, and a recent convert to the (mostly) Paleolithic-Primal diet.
You can expect my posts to be about reducing chaos at home by way of easy & healthy recipes, and all sorts of things kid and family related. As an added bonus (ha ha) you’ll get an occasional post where I rant or rave about a business creating or diminishing chaos in the lives of consumers.
Why Mom vs. Chaos?
Some of you may be wondering why I’m fighting against chaos anyway. After all, I have four young children. Am I fighting an uphill battle? I guess so. Will it be worth it? so. effing. worth. it.
Things I find Chaotic (this list will be updated regularly- last update 11/09/11):
1. Constant noise from a television (we don’t have one we now have a television, but we still don’t have cable)
2. Too much of any one thing (i.e. toys, clothes, etc)
3. Trying to cook dinner at dinner-time (when I cook instead), then attempting to have “family dinner” (I think there is something wrong with that concept anyway)
4. Unnecessary paper, including, but not limited to instruction manuals, bills, etc
5. Businesses that make dumb decisions and have no idea how it impacts the end-user (or at least haven’t considered it)
5. Managing finances
I don’t have it all figured out, but I’m really working on it. This blog will record my struggles & triumphs, as well as any tips and tools I find useful. Please visit and comment often!
Who’s Who?
While this blog is mostly about me trying to conquer chaos, you will probably catch references to the rest of my little family. Since this blog is anonymous (at least for now), I’ve come up with nicknames for all of them.
Big Handsome (BH): My husband. Brilliant. Ridiculously Hard Working. My rock and voice of reason as well as source of constant laughter.
Lizzy: My only girl. Queen Bee to the three little guys. Dramatic in all of the wonderful ways you would expect a little girl to be. Currently eight years old.
Carl: Oldest boy. Loves the Solar System (hence the name Carl, after “Grandpa Carl” Sagan, who isn’t actually related to us, but we love him as if he were). Inquisitive. Amazingly witty. Currently four years old.
Jude: Middle man. Hilarious. Laughs at his own jokes (which are actually funny). Hugger. Currently two years old.
Champ: Littlest guy. Born eight-weeks early on Independence Day. Couldn’t wait to be a part of this crazy mess I call life. Currently one year old.
